Understanding the ancient Japanese philosophy of the "Godai" (pronounced 'go-die') is one of the most important aspects of Amatsu therapy when healing people.
The godai, also known as The Five Elements, shows how all the things are connected, dependent, and interdependent. When working on the body, I must consider the mind and the spirit of the person, and how each of these aspects of a person affect the others. In a more anatomical example, when working on a specific muscle, I must consider the connective tissues associated to that muscle, and how they affect the wider body. When physically touching someone, I must consider how the biochemical, bioelectrical, and fluid exchanges within the tissues affect the nervous system, which itself affects the mind.

Amatsu isn't only "holistic", it is "whole-istic". To affect change in injury or dysfunction, and to illicit the body's healing response, I absolutely must consider all aspects of them, and not be blindly drawn to just the area that they feel pain or discomfort in.
The Five Elements of the Godai are fluidly ever-changing, working independently and within each other. You are fluidly ever-changing, physically, mentally, and spiritually, and so I have to be able to treat you with the dynamic support that you deserve.
